Back Country Tours

Hokkaido Powder Guides (HPG) offers incredible off-piste skiing tours on Furano, the nearby resorts such as Tomamu, Kamui Ski Links and the awe-inspiring live volcano of Asahidake. They also offer hiking backcountry tours in to the Daisetsuzan National Park, which are the highest mountains in Hokkaido adjacent to Furano.. HPG pride themselves on offering a quality guided service to the highest standard with a low ratio of guides to skiers for a safer, more successful, more efficient and more enjoyable ski experience. Guests can choose single day, multi day or create their own customized trip to suit your every wish and need. Hot Air Ballooning

Furano is renowned for having more blue sky days than other ski resorts in Hokkaido, which makes it a perfect place to launch skyward in a balloon and take in the spectacle below. Early risers can take the tour rising to an altitude of over 1000m above the Furano valley floor below. The prevailing winds carry you past the Taisetsusan Mountain Range and over the city of Furano. In the cold winter climate a phenomenon known as diamond dust often forms given the impression of being surrounded by a million diamonds. We strongly recommend booking in advance for the balloon tours as they are weather dependent. Your ski jacket and thermal underwear also comes in very handy!

Snow Mobiling

Snowmobile is an exciting and unique way to experience Furano's breathtaking scenery and vibrant nature. Tours can be booked through our front desk. A picturesque streamside trail leads to a large open plateau where you can test the full power of the snowmobiles while enjoying an amazing view of the Tokachi Mountains. Approximate tour time 2 hours. Complimentary pick up. Normal season: mid December to mid March (subject to weather).

Star Gazing

The clarity of the stars in the sky above Furano at night is something to behold. Tours provide guests with a well received hot chocolate, coffee or tea as they provide an in-depth commentary of the constellations. As you stroll through the forested mountain at night you'll see amazing night views with whilst breathing in the crisp clean air of Hokkaido. The tour finishes with a natural hot-spring tour where you can bathe in the volcanic bubbling water. The remoteness of the area and the proximity to Daisetsu-zan National Park guarantees amazing sights. For further information on these tours visit the Asobiya website by clicking here.
