Furano and the nearby regional capital of Asahikawa contain nearly every shop imaginable.

The closest shopping option for Fresh Powder guests is the Seven Eleven convenience store located only 300 metres away on the main street in Kitanomine. The store stocks all the basic food you may need for your stay including milk, eggs, bread, cereal, fruit, soft-drink, beer, wine, butter, ice-cream and many condiments. We thoroughly recommend the healthy bento box option which are ready to be heated and eaten instantly.

The township of Furano has at least half a dozen large supermarkets with a huge variety of fresh food. In winter our staff operate a shopping trip at last once a week to the supermarket for the convenience of our guests. In summer as most guests are driving our staff are more than happy to provide directions to any number of grocery stores or supermarkets. Most of the stores require shoppers to pack their groceries into their own bags or boxes. In recent years several the stores have become more environmentally aware and encourage guests to bring their own bags, a policy we full endorse. Be sure to enquire with our staff if they have any spare shopping bags.

Furano has a plethora of souvenir shops that thrive in summer. Interesting little stores offer local produce and unique products from the local Furano area including lavender products (of course), wine, cheese, art, pottery, glass products and a host of other wonderful goods. Given that Furano has a population over 30,000 it offers every store possible from shoe stores to boutique clothing shops. If you get caught short of clothing or forget to pack something then no need to worry. Simply head downtown and you will be sure to find whatever you are looking for.

The nearest ATM to Fresh Powder is located inside the Seven Eleven convenience store in Kitanomine, only 300 metres form the apartments. This is an international ATM and accepts most international debit and credit card withdrawals. For guests whose cards do not work in this machine another international ATM is located in Furano at the local post office. Most if not all the ATM’s located on bank premises in Furano only accept Japanese debit cards. A word of caution if you are planning on using your visa card in Furano. Although many stores are beginning to accept Visa, Mastercard and Amex there are still a number of restaurants, cafes and bars that only accept cash.
